PINEVILLE, La. – Midland University concluded its four-game series against Louisiana Christian on Saturday, dropping both games of the doubleheader. The Warriors fell 5-1 in the opener and 2-1 in the nightcap.

GAME ONE: Louisiana Christian 5, Midland 1

Alec Villanueva sparked Midland’s offense with a bunt single in the top of the first inning. Nate Reyes followed with a single to center field, advancing Villanueva to third. Jacob Liquori then delivered an RBI single to put the Warriors ahead 1-0.

Louisiana Christian responded in the bottom of the third. A Midland error and a hit-by-pitch put two runners on base before a single up the middle drove in a pair, giving the Wildcats a 2-1 lead. They added two more runs in the fourth, capitalizing on two singles and a balk to extend the margin to 4-1. A solo home run in the fifth capped the scoring.

The Wildcats’ pitching staff kept the Warriors off the board the rest of the way, sealing the 5-1 win.

Statistical Standouts

GAME TWO: Louisiana Christian 2, Midland 1

Louisiana Christian took an early lead in game two, scoring one run in the first inning on two hits. The Wildcats doubled their advantage in the third, again stringing together a pair of hits to make it 2-0.

Midland broke through in the fourth. Joshua Hardamon drew a walk and stole second before Reyes worked a free pass. An error allowed Villanueva to reach, loading the bases. Hadyn Crawford then delivered an RBI single to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Despite multiple opportunities, the Warriors were unable to push across the tying run, resulting in their second one-run loss of the day.

Statistical Standout

Midland (1-7) is slated to head to Kansas City, Kansas, for a four-game weekend slate. The Warriors are scheduled to face MidAmerica Nazarene (3-2) at 2 p.m. and Park (4-2) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21. They will then take on Baker (0-4) at 11:30 a.m. and Graceland (4-6) at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22.
