PINEVILLE, La. – Midland University made the long trip to Alexandria, Louisiana, for a four-game series against Louisiana Christian. The Warriors split Friday’s doubleheader with the Wildcats, falling in a close 2-1 contest in game one before bouncing back with a 4-2 victory in game two.
GAME ONE: Louisiana Christian 2, Midland 1
After two scoreless innings, the Warriors struck first in the top of the third. Kobe Sandstromreached first on a Wildcat error and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Brody Boyle. Alec Villanueva then ripped a double to center field, bringing home Sandstrom for a 1-0 Midland lead.
Louisiana Christian answered in the bottom of the inning, working a leadoff walk before advancing the runner to third on a pair of groundouts. A two-out single tied the game at 1-1, and a failed pickoff attempt allowed another run to score, giving the Wildcats a 2-1 advantage.
Both teams remained scoreless the rest of the way, as Louisiana Christian held on for a narrow victory in game one.

GAME TWO: Midland 4, Louisiana Christian 2
After a quiet first inning, Midland gained momentum in the top of the second. Nate Reyesled off with a triple to center field, putting a runner in scoring position. Jacob Liquori followed with a two-run homer to right field.
Deven Gomez then reached on a Wildcat error and stole second. Sotero Ureno‘s single advanced Gomez to third, and another Louisiana Christian miscue allowed him to score.
Ben Kirkland entered as a courtesy runner for Ureno, advancing to second on a wild pitch. Eimir Perez reached on an error and moved to second on the same play, bringing Kirkland home to extend Midland’s lead to 4-0.
Louisiana Christian ended its scoring drought in the bottom half, taking advantage of a hit-by-pitch and two errors to push across one run.
After a scoreless third, the Wildcats added another run in the fourth, capitalizing on two hits and two Midland errors to cut the deficit to 4-2.
The Warriors’ pitching and defense held strong the rest of the way, securing their first win of the 2025 season.
