
James David Rowell, 67, of Fremont passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025, at his home. He was born September 8, 1957, in Port Huron, Michigan to James and Lorraine (Bartreau) Rowell.
James grew up in Alpena and Port Huron, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army form June 23, 1976 to May 27, 1982, serving at Ft. Stewart, Georgia; Fort Knox, Kentucky; and in Germany. James then lived in Illinois, Colorado Springs, Fremont, and Riverdale, Michigan; before settling back in Fremont in 2003. He married Angela Camp on May 1, 1989 in Colorado Springs.
James is a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and AARP. He enjoys bowling, fishing, playing solitaire, cooking and barbecuing, baking and swimming.
He is survived by his wife, Angela Rowell of Fremont; sons, Jesse Rowell, Fremont, William (Dylan) Rowell of Lincoln and James Rowell, Jr. of Hastings; daughters, Amber (Travis) Shaffer of Jefferson City, Missouri; Laura (Steve) Fleischman of Illinois; Lorraine Rowell, and Dawn Rowell; brothers, Bill White, Indiana and Thomas Rowell of Michigan; sister Angel White of Indiana; 12 grandchildren, Adrian, AJ, Gavin, Savannah, Sawyer, Jackson, Agatha, Phoenix, Bella and Alaska, Addison, and KK.
James was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; mother-in-law, Sandee Camp and aunts and uncles.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan 9, 2025, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday Jan 8, 2025, also at Moser’s.
Interment with Military Honors will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
