James Michael Taylor, 76, of Arlington passed away Friday, December 13, 2026 at his home. He was born January 25, 1948 in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Archie and Lucy (Bodenheimer) Taylor.

James grew up in Knoxville and graduated in 1966 from Rule High School in Knoxville. He then served in the U.S. Air Force from June 7, 1966 to April 1, 1970. He was stationed at the Scribner Air Base and then Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue. After his service he lived in Omaha for a year before moving to rural Arlington 53 years ago. James married Carolyn Lallman July 11, 1970 at Fontanelle. He worked at Hormel in Fremont until his retirement in January of 2013.

James was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle and the American Legion Post No. 71 in Arlington. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, coin and baseball collecting.

He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Madelyn and August Lallman and brother-in-law, Kenneth Lallman.

James is survived by his wife Carolyn and son Brian Taylor (Terri Haith) all of Fremont; daughter, Michelle Taylor; brother, Fred Chitwood and sister, Pat (Roy) Scholvinck all of Fortson, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Darlene Lallman of Blair and Naomi Lallman of Carlsbad, New Mexico, and two grandchildren.

Memorial Service will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2024, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Rev. Allison Siburg of Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle will officiate. A military flag presentation will follow the service.
