SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced its 2024 Football All-Conference Team, selected after a vote of the league coaches. Midland University had seven players selected to the all-conference team following a 6-5 record overall and a 5-5 mark in the GPAC.
Leading the way for the Warriors on the All-GPAC team was Tyson Denkert. The junior from Kenesaw, Nebraska earned three spots on the list, including a pair of first-team spots. He was picked as an All-GPAC First Team running back and kick return specialist, and was an All-GPAC Second Team selection as a punt returner. He led the conference with 1,209 yards while scoring 11 rushing touchdowns. As a returner, he averaged 30.6 yards per return on kickoffs and 15.5 on punts. He led the GPAC with an average of 209.6 all-purpose yards.
Tim Brown, a junior from Miami, Florida, and Christian Robledo, a senior from Indio, California, were named to the All-GPAC Second Team. Brown earned the spot as a wide receiver, finishing the season with 31 receptions for 379 yards and 5 touchdowns. Robledo anchored the offensive line at the center position, helping the offense to an average of 339.7 yards per game with 138.0 coming on the ground.
On the defensive side of the ball, Gabriel VanWinkle and Brandon Lance earned All-GPAC Second Team honors. VanWinkle, a senior from Kearney, Nebraska, had 44 total tackles and 7.0 sacks from his defensive line position. Lance, a junior from Rosenberg, Texas, picked up 34 tackles from his defensive back spot and added an interception.
Earning honorable mentions for the Warriors were Jay Ballard, a sophomore from Baltimore, Maryland, and Dane Christensen, a senior from Kearney, Nebraska. Both played on the defensive side of the ball at linebacker and the defensive line, respectively.
