WSOC: Warriors Earn Important Road Win at Dakota Wesleyan

MITCHELL, S.D. – Midland University traveled to Mitchell, South Dakota, to face Dakota Wesleyan University in a Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) matchup on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors scored the lone goal of the game to secure a 1-0 shutout over the Tigers.

The decisive moment came in the 35th minute of the first half when Rosa Schellmann set up Jaya Soor, who slotted the ball past the keeper into the bottom right corner, leading to the 1-0 victory for the Warriors.

Dakota Wesleyan held a slight edge in shot attempts, 13-9, but both teams were even with six shots on goal. Midland had the advantage in corner kicks, 6-2.

Kyla Pires played the full 90 minutes in goal, making five saves to preserve the shutout.

“It was a hard-fought battle, but I am thrilled that the team worked together to earn a Warrior win. We look forward to honoring our seniors in our last home game this Wednesday,” said head coach Keri Heedum.

Midland (3-2-3, 3-2-3 GPAC) will host Mount Marty (for its final home game of the regular season. The Senior Night match is set for Wednesday, October 23 at 5:00 p.m. on the turf at Heedum Field in Fremont, Neb.
