FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University hosted Doane University on Wednesday evening in a Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) matchup. After a full 90 minutes of play, the defenses stood tall as each side was held scoreless, each earning a point in the GPAC standings in the 0-0 draw. With the result, Midland moves to 0-1-2 overall and 0-1-2 in the conference.
Midland had a substantial advantage in shot attempts on the evening, 12-6 overall and a 6-2 advantage on frame. Each team put forth a solid defensive strategy in front of their keepers with physical play from both sides that resulted in 19 fouls and 3 cautions throughout.
Kyla Pires played the complete game, picking up two saves to earn the shutout in net.
“The team battled hard despite numerous illnesses and injuries. We’ll take the draw and look forward to Saturday,” commented head coach Keri Heedum.
Midland (0-1-2, 0-1-2 GPAC) will host Morningside (1-2-4, 0-1-2 GPAC) at home on Saturday, September 28 in a GPAC clash. The match is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Heedum Field in Fremont.
