
David L. Spicka, 75, of Fremont passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024. He was born March 20, 1949 in Boise, Idaho, to Emil and Rose (Horacek) Spicka.
David spent his childhood in Ithaca and Cedar Bluffs. He attended Wahoo Neumann High School, (where he and his relay team still hold the 4×200 school record.) He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam from Aug. 4, 1968, to Oct. 4, 1971. After his discharge from the military, David moved back to Fremont to help with the family farm. David was a pig farmer in North Bend before working at Steenblock Erectors and HQ Construction until retiring in January of 2024.
He is a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont, Knights of Columbus Council No. 3736 of North Bend, Christians Encounter Christ, sidewalk counselor for Right to Life, and Member of the American Legion Post No. 340 of Morse Bluff.
David is survived by his sons, Colin (Danielle) Spicka of Omaha and Dylan (Alyssa) Westring of Chicago, Illinois; daughter, Mica Spicka of Brooklyn, New York; brothers, Larry (Kimberly) Spicka and Emil Spicka; sisters Constance Brainard and Carol Spicka; four grandchildren, Ava and Lylla Spicka, Eve and Warren Westring; and Debra Spicka.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Evelyn Nolte and Donna May Spicka.
The Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont. Rev. Father Walter Nolte will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a Knights of Columbus Living Rosary following at 7, all at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont.
Burial with military honors, will be at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Wahoo.
