CLEVELAND, Ohio – Final standings of the 2023-24 Learfield Director’s Cup were released today by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). For the sixth straight release, Midland University ranked among the top 25. The Warriors placed 21st in the overall standings with 523.50 points.

“We are proud of achieving 21st place in the Learfield Directors’ Cup, our sixth appearance in the Top 25 since 2017-18,” commented Courtney Thomsen, Midland Director of Athletics. “This accomplishment is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff. Midland continues to demonstrate excellence and resilience and we look forward to building upon our successes while striving for greater heights.”

Midland’s point total of 523.50 results from five finishes in the top 12 (volleyball, men’s indoor track & field, competitive dance, softball, and men’s outdoor track & field). Scores for 13 sports are used to comprise a school’s final number. Four of those sports must include women’s volleyball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and men’s soccer. The next nine highest scores are used, regardless of gender, for the final standings.

The Warriors saw 11 teams place in their respective NAIA national championship tournaments. In addition to the sports listed above, those championship sports included women’s swim & dive, men’s swim & dive, women’s indoor track & field, women’s wrestling, and competitive cheer.

The University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) earned the top spot and was followed by Indiana Wesleyan University, Keiser University, Marian University, and William Carey University.

At the conference level, the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) led all conferences with five institutions in the top 25. Joining Midland from the GPAC were Concordia University, Northwestern College, Doane University, and Dordt University.
