Kristin Ann ‘Kris’ (Ewing) Sorensen passed away Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings. She was born June 17, 1966 in Omaha.
Kris grew up in Hastings and attended Hawthorne Elementary School, Hastings Junior High School and graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1984. She graduated from UNK and received her master’s degree in education from Concordia University. She taught at the Nebraska Youth Academy in Hastings until 2023.
Kris loved family, friends, crafting, ceramics and animals especially horses, she grew up with ‘Twister’ a retired racing quarter-horse. She attended youth group at First United Methodist Church in Hastings and later joined Juniata United Methodist Church.
Kris is survived by her son, Seth Sorensen of Hastings; daughter, Kyra Sorensen of Lincoln; brother, Mike (Robynn ‘Waltemath’) Ewing of Fremont; grandchildren, Nevaeha, Mya, Ashlyn and Barrett Sorensen; nephews, Zach (Abby) & son Calen Ewing of Fremont and Bryce Ewing of Lincoln; aunt Ruth Alberts, several cousins, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Leonard & Ruby Ewing and Ike and Thelma Bailey; parents, Dr. John and Mary Jean Ewing.
