Fremont Public Schools has announced ribbon cutting ceremonies for the new Deer Pointe Elementary, Howard Elementary and Washington
Elementary buildings on Friday, Aug. 2.
The ceremony at Deer Pointe Elementary will begin at 9 a.m. while the ceremony at Howard will start at 9:45 am and the ceremony at Washington Elementary will begin at 10:30. All ceremonies will take place through the main doors in each school in the commons. Tours will only be available at Washington Elementary.
Deer Pointe, Howard and Washington Elementary share the same blueprints. The three elementary school replacements are part of a 10-project, $123 million school facility improvements bond issue that passed on September 14, 2021. They are designed to accommodate four sections of each grade level preschool through fourth grade.
The new schools are built to serve up to 540 students as the Fremont community continues to grow.
“These new elementary buildings will continue to move our community forward in preparing our students for the future and the community for growth,” FPS Superintendent Mark Shepard said. “It’s exciting to cut the ribbons on these three new elementary buildings – the first new FPS elementary buildings since Bell Field Elementary was constructed in 2000.”
Construction on the 67,000 square feet buildings continues and move-in’s will be happening this summer. The buildings will be ready for students when the 2024-25 school year begins on Aug. 19.
The addresses for each building are as follows:
Deer Pointe Elementary – 2943 East Elkhorn Drive
Howard Elementary – 240 North Howard Street
Washington Elementary – 317 West Washington Street
