Methodist Fremont Health plans Stuff the Truck food drive

In light of the destruction caused by the April 26 tornados – many of which have left several families homeless – Methodist Fremont Health is asking for overwhelming community support during the WOWT Stuff the Truck food drive scheduled for 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 2.

Food insecurity is a year-round issue, especially during the summer – when many children no longer have access to school lunch. Now, with many families experiencing the loss of their homes and resources following severe weather, Methodist is hopeful Thursday’s food drive will be the most successful one yet.

Volunteers will be collecting nonperishable food items on the east side of the Health Park Plaza parking lot – right off Clarkson street.

Donating is quick, easy and contact-free. Simply pull up and pop your trunk, and our volunteers will collect your donation right from your vehicle. There’s no need to get out of your vehicle. Cash donations will also be accepted.

Special needs include:

  • Canned beans, vegetables and fruit
  • Canned soup
  • Oatmeal and pancake mix
  • Paper products, including paper towels, toilet paper and diapers
  • Pasta and pasta sauce
  • Peanut butter
  • Shelf-stable snack items like applesauce, crackers or granola bars

Thursday’s food drive is an effort taking place across the health system. Other drop-off locations include:

  • Methodist Women’s Hospital, 707 N. 190th Plaza in Omaha
  • Methodist Physicians Clinic at Indian Hills, 8901 West Dodge Road in Omaha
  • Methodist Jennie Edmundson Medical Plaza, 808 E. Pierce St. in Council Bluffs

All donations will benefit the communities they are collected in. Officials said they are partnering with the following groups.
