Lucretia E. Griffen, 82, of Fremont died Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
She was born November 24, 1941, in Grand Island to Leonard and Mildred (Watkins) DeLong. She was the youngest of three children. Her family moved frequently. They lived in Grand Island for a short time and then to Phillips. From there, they moved to Ainsworth and then to Newman Grove before moving to Oakland where she graduated from high school. After graduating, the family moved to Fremont.
Lucretia married Douglas McGuire, and they later divorced. She married Thomas E. Griffen on April 13, 1979, in Fremont.
Lucretia worked at Campbell Soup Company for a short time. She was a waitress and then a beautician until she went to work at Western Electric in 1963. She worked there for 31 years until retirement.
She was baptized Jehovah Witness in 2007.
She is survived by two stepsons, Colin of Scribner and Heath (Katherine) Griffen of Fremont; two stepdaughters, Heather (Mike) Sabatka and Rachelle Buckingham (Aaron Egner) both of Fremont; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Lucretia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas; sister and brother.
Memorial visitation with family receiving friends will be 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.
