SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced the softball player and pitcher of the week for contests played March 11-17, 2024. Midland University swept the awards with Roni Foote earning GPAC Softball Player of the Week honors and Aliyah Rincon being named the GPAC Softball Pitcher of the Week, her second weekly honor this season.
Foote a, senior from Omaha, Nebraska, helped Midland pick up six wins at the Tucson Invitational Games. Through eight games, she hit .609 (14-for-23) with four walks. Of her 14 hits, six were for extra bases including five triples. Foote tallied 14 RBIs on the week as well, moving her into first in the Midland record book of which she took sole possession of the home run record earlier this season.
Rincon, a senior from Granada Hills, California, went 3-1 this past week as the Warriors competed in the Tucson Invitational Games. She pitched 24.0 innings with an ERA of 1.46 with 21 strikeouts. Through this season, she owns a 1.22 ERA with 12 wins and 102 strikeouts.
