A rural Mead man is in custody following the recovery of stolen items taken in area burglaries.

Patrick J. Newcomer, 37, is being held on a $250,000/10% bond. His first appearance in Saunders County Court is set for Thursday.

The Saunders County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Nebraska State Patrol, III-Corp Drug Task Force, and the Fremont Police Department, served a search warrant at 1031 County Road Q in Saunders County (about four miles north of Mead).

Numerous items of evidence were recovered that included over $61,000 in cash, 13 firearms, ammunition, gold, collectible currency, and multiple stolen items taken during burglaries in both Saunders and Dodge County. Items recovered have been matched to victims.

This search warrant and ongoing investigation clears six Saunders County and two Dodge County burglaries. The burglaries cleared in Saunders County include three homes at Woodcliff Lakes, the U-Stop in Ashland, Konecky’s in Mead and a storage Quonset in Mead. The investigation is on-going and future case clearings are possible.
