SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced the latest men’s basketball player of the week for contests played January 29-February 4, 2024. Derek Merwick of Midland University was selected as the GPAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week from a pool of nominees by the conference.
Merwick, a junior from Elkhorn, Nebraska, continued to showcase his prowess on the court for the Warriors. For the week he led the team with 28.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 6.5 assists. In Saturday’s overtime loss to Dordt, he turned in a triple-double with 32 points, 16 rebounds, and 13 assists while playing virtually every minute.
