Edward James Probasco, age 86, of Scribner died Wednesday Jan. 17, 2024 at Pathfinder Place in Fremont.

Born June 17, 1937, to E. Harvey & Marie (Madison) Probasco in Woodbine, Iowa. Attended several rural schools around Woodbine, graduating from Woodbine High School in 1955. Ed started at Stockyards National Bank in Omaha, working his way from teller to vice-president. He left to pursue his lifelong love of farming, moving to Scribner in 1971.

Ed married Annette Klahn of Scribner on Oct. 6, 1957, at St John’s Ridgeley Lutheran Church, and remained a member of St John’s since 1971.

Survivors include his wife Annette of Scribner, daughter Cheri (Everett) Burger of Omaha, son John (Kim) Probasco of Scribner, grandchildren Jason Probasco, Nate (Heidi) Probasco, Travis (Courtney) Burger, Whitney (Eric) Bramow, and Madison (Tyler) Thompson, and great-grandchildren Remy, A.J., Ari, and Silas Probasco, Evelyn and Owen Burger, and Jackson and Nora Bramow. Also survived by brothers Carl Probasco, Ron (Glenda) Probasco, Merle (Sherry) Probasco, and sister Linda (Harold)Francois, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law.

Ed loved to cook for a houseful of family and friends, loved to fish – especially with his brothers , enjoyed woodworking, and was happiest spending time with his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, nephew and son.

Memorial services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23 at St John’s Ridgeley Lutheran Church, rural Scribner. Visitation one hour before service at the church.
