Larry L. Wagner, 80, of Cedar Bluffs passed away Monday, January 8, 2024, at Hillcrest Millard in Omaha.Larry was born on July 18, 1943, to Ruben and Clara (Wacker) Wagner in Norfolk. He graduated from Madison High School, Class of 1960. On April 25, 1964, he married his high school sweetheart, Gladys Vacha, in Madison. In that same year, the couple moved to Fremont where Larry started working at Hormel on the production line. In 1966, he joined the United States Army Reserve and in 1972, was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. Larry’s young family, now including children John, Travis, and Stacy, moved to Cedar Bluffs in 1973.While in Cedar Bluffs, Larry met several lifelong friends and served on the village board, was actively involved in the American Legion, Post 158, and the town’s Centennial Celebration. He made himself available to anyone who needed an extra hand and especially enjoyed any meeting on Main Street.By 1980, Larry was promoted to the Hormel maintenance department, and in 1995, he retired from there after 31 years of service. Not yet ready to completely retire, he worked at the public school for five years and then Saunders Medical Center for six.During his go-go retirement years, Larry and Gladys enjoyed traveling with family and friends. He continued his love for classic cars and yard work. He went on to fully embrace retired life as he settled in with his dog Bart and enjoyed visits from friends, family, and especially his grandkids.He is survived by his wife, Gladys, brother-in-law Jerry Staudenmeier, sons John (Harmoni) Wagner and Travis (Allison) Wagner, daughter Stacy Wagner, and grandchildren Kayleigh (Aaron) Baca, Katie, Janee, Ben Orick, Ellen, and Thomas.He was preceded in death by his parents Ruben and Clara, and sisters Elaine (Earl) Reeves and JoAnne Staudenmaier.A Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cedar Buffs. Father Steven Mills will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before Mass at the church. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery near Cedar Bluffs.Memorials may be directed to Cedar Bluff’s American Legion, Post 158 or St. Mary’s Catholic Church.Online condolences may be left at: www.mosermemorialchapels.com.
