Mary L. Behrens, 91, of Fremont passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2024.
She was born in rural Valley on Sept. 21, 1932, to Lloyd R. and Delva M. (Adams) Smith. She was raised in the Valley area for most of her life and graduated from Valley High School in 1950. She married Donald Behrens on Dec. 5,1954 in Valley. They lived in Leshara for 48 years and raised their family there. They moved to Fremont in 2003.
Mary was an excellent seamstress, loved to sew and made many Barbie & Ken clothes. She also enjoyed crocheting and made countless blankets and afghans. Survivors include three children, sons Ronald G. Behrens (Pat) of Omaha, Roger A. Behrens (Vicki) of Elmira, New York and daughter Rhonda S. Whitten (Steve) of Borden, Indiana. Six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Two step-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald, parents, two brothers and several sisters. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Wednesday (Jan. 10) at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.
