Fremont Mayor Joey Spellerberg made it official on Monday.

The incumbent filed for re-election with Dodge County Clerk Micki Gilfry on Monday. The mayor announced last summer that he was planning on seeking a second term. He was voted into office in November of 2020.

Spellerberg was one of five local incumbents to file for re-election. Fremont Board of Education members Todd Hansen and Pam Murphy submitted their paperwork on Friday — the first day incumbents could file. Pat Tawney, the District 4 representative on the Dodge County Board of Supervisors, and Doug Hoops, the president of the North Bend Central School Board, also filed on Friday.

The filing period for incumbents is Jan. 5 to Feb. 15 while nonincumbents have until March 1 to submit their paperwork.
