Zenith Jean Pawling, 76, passed away on Dec. 30, 2023.

Jean was the daughter of Ralph and Etta Van Buren, born Dec. 12, 1947, in O’Neill. She dedicated her life to loving and caring for her children and grandchildren. She worked at Campbell’s Soup, as a nurses’ aide at local nursing homes, and Overland Products.

She loved God, spending time gardening, reading, knitting, embroidering, and visiting with her family. Jean loved her family fiercely and selfishly. Every day, by her beautiful example, she taught those she loved how to put others first, work hard, and to find a way when none seemed clear.

Preceding her in death are her husband, Kaye Osterloh; daughter, Tonya Jean; parents, Ralph and Etta; and brothers, Ivan and Dale.

Jean leaves behind her children, Kassia (Daniel) Meister of West Point; KC (Stacey) Pawling of Aurora; Heather (Aaron) Stack of North Carolina; and Shawn Pawling of Scribner; grandchildren, Jared, Amanda, Matthew, Caleb, Ellie, Evan, Dylan, Mason, and Katie; and many siblings, nieces, and nephews.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan 3, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Burial will be at the Hooper Cemetery in Hooper.

Memorials may be directed to CHI St. Elizabeth Hospital in care of the burn unit.
