Joyce L. Ball, 95, of Lincoln, formerly Fremont, passed away Sunday, Dec. 17, 2023, at Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln. She was born Jan. 9, 1928, in Hooper to Emil and Laura (Popken) Osterloh.

Joyce grew up on the farm north of Hooper and graduated from Hooper High School in 1945. She then attended Midland College in Fremont for a year. Joyce married Rodney E. Ball Sept. 6, 1946 at the Misson Inn in Riverside, California, while he was serving our country. In January of 1947 they came back and settled in Fremont. Joyce worked as the Bursar for Midland Lutheran College for 28 years. Rodney preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 1993. She continued to live in Fremont until moving to Lincoln in 2021.

Joyce was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fremont and belonged to several bridge clubs over the years. She was also a member of Friends of the Library in Fremont and enjoyed sewing, needlework, reading and travel.

She is survived by her daughter, Darcy (Thomas) McBride of Lincoln; brother, Byron Osterloh of Paradise Valley, Arizona; 10 grandchildren, Chris (Trish) York, Rafe York, Addie (Jeff) Rysavy, Zane (Kelly) York, Rachael (Justin) Spence, Aaron (Alexandra) Ball, Asher (Krystal) Ball, Benjamin (Stephenie) McBride, Thatcher McBride and Eli (Tracy) McBride; two step-grandchildren, Andy (Anna) Roberts and Tony (Sherrie) Roberts; 15 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rodney; daughter, Robyn York; son, Todd Ball; and sister, Elaine Schnebel.

Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, at First Lutheran Church in Fremont.
