Clayton E. Cobb, 94, of Fremont passed away, Nov. 29, 2023, at Pathfinder Place in Fremont.

Clayton was born Aug. 23, 1929, in Morrison, Illinois, to Harvey and Sylvia (Baker) Cobb. He graduated from Morrison High School and later received his bachelor’s degree in agriculture from Illinois State University. After college, Clayton served in the US Army from 1952 until 1954. Clayton married Susan Sykes on June 7, 1952, at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church in Morrison. She preceded him in death on September 6, 2016.

Clayton moved to Fremont after serving in the military and began 44 years of employment for the corn business. He managed the Dekalb business in Fremont which became Golden Harvest. He retired in 1998.

Some of Clayton’s favorite hobbies included fishing, golfing, mowing, and bowling. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Fremont.

Clayton is survived by his daughter, Jill Arthur (Mark Scott) of Fremont; son, Steve (Rhonda) Cobb of Fremont; grandchildren, Chris (Teija) DeVere, Elizabeth Arthur, Billy (Stephanie) Arthur, Garrett Cobb, Peyton (Sarah) Cobb, and Hannah Cobb; great grandchildren, Katelyn (Mason) Reiger, Jacob Boosinger, and Tommy Arthur; and his beloved special companion, “Blaze” the cat.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Susan; son, Thomas Cobb; sister, Corliss Kerr; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.

The memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, 2023, at The First Congregational Church in Fremont. Chaplain Scott Jensen will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. A reception following the service on Friday until 4 p.m. will be at the Eagles Club. The burial will be at a later date in Morrison, Illinois.
