Mary Ann Peterson, 92, of Fremont passed away Sunday Nov. 19, 2023, at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont surrounded by family. She was born Sept. 12, 1931, in Madison to William and Nelda (Johnson) Ramsier.

Mary grew up in Madison and lived in several communities including Norfolk before settling in Fremont. She married Warren “Dale” Peterson on Dec. 5, 1951, in Madison County. He preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 1999. Mary worked as a cook at Midland Lutheran College for 35 years, and Archbishop Bergan in Fremont for a year or so.

She was a member of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Omaha and liked to bowl and golf. She was a member of TOPS and the Silver Sneakers group at the YMCA.

She is survived by her daughters, Renee (John) Radtke of Fremont and Vicki Jo Peterson of Fairbury; sons, Bob (Linda) Peterson of Norfolk, and John (Michelle) Peterson of Fremont; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jim “Pete” Peterson; brothers, Gary and Homer; and sister, Judy.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday Nov. 25, 2023, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Fr. Stephen Sandquist will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday with a rosary starting at 7, all at Moser’s in Fremont. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 9-10 a.m.

Interment will be at Ridge Cemetery in Fremont.
