Vernon D. “Pete” Peterson, 78, of Fremont passed away Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, at Methodist Fremont Health.
Pete was born on July 19, 1945, to Vernon William and Fredora Lucille “Fritzie” (Vetter) Peterson in Fremont. He grew up in Fremont and was a truck driver for his whole life. On March 25, 1990, Pete married Peggy Woodgate in Las Vegas.
Pete loved trucking, old cars, airboating, camping, fishing, and beers with good friends.
He was preceded by is parents; daughters, Michelle and Vicki Peterson; sister, Pat; son-in-law, Barry Richard; sister-in-law, Shirley Sommers; and brother-in-law, Cecil (Janice) Woodgate.
He is survived by daughters, Nicole Pingel and Randi Richard (Brian); sons, Tim Peterson (Tracy), Chad Peterson (Tonja); brothers, Jimmy Peterson and Mike (Michelle) Peterson; brother-in-law, Gerald (Linda) Woodgate; grandchildren, Alan (Samantha) Peterson, Austin (Nick) Peterson, Justin (Ashley) Bittinger, Taylor (Rocio) Merida, Cheyenne (Brandyn) Flagle, Lane (Shaylee) Siems, Hayley Pingel, Jackson Pingel, and Jared Pingel; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be 12:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2023, at Ridge Cemetery in Fremont. Chaplain Scott Jensen will officiate. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Burial will take place at Ridge Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life luncheon will follow the burial at the Izaak Walton starting at 12:30 p.m.
