Local businesses are stepping up to help a Fremont family with medical expenses.

On Oct. 17, Kylee Mueller, 24, had a massive stroke. She was life flighted to Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., and had surgery. Kylee’s aunt, Cassandra Dryden, said the area of the brain that was damaged was the part that controls her body and all movement.

“She has been sedated since,” Dryden said. “She is going to have to be transported to Madonna (Rehabilitation Hospital). … They said her best chances are going to Madonna so they are trying to get her into Lincoln right now.”

Kylee works at Casey’s in Wayne, but most of her family is in Fremont. Her father is longtime Dodge County Deputy Don Mueller.

On Saturday (Oct. 28), Rise & Shine Donuts will donate 20 percent of all sales for Kylee’s medical expenses. A donation jar will also be on the counter with 100 percent of the donations going to the family.

On Nov. 7, the Fremont Applebee’s will be conducting a Together We Care (TWC) fundraiser. Half the proceeds from the TWC menu will go toward the family. It will be available for dine in or carry out from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

On Nov. 8, Crush Pizza in Fremont will donate 10 percent of all food sold to Kylee. Dryden noted that donation buckets are also set up at Silver Dollar Lounge at 1809 N. Bell St. and Casey’s Convenience Store at 401 W. 23rd Street. A GoFundMe page has also been created.

Dryden said the Mueller family is grateful for the community support.

“We appreciate everyone’s help and everyone’s prayers,” she said noting different food donations the family has also received. “We just have a long road ahead and we appreciate everyone.”
