Cloyd R. Callaway, 90, of Fremont passed away Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023, at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont. He was born Sept. 21, 1933 in Inglewood to Fred and Mildred (Johnson) Callaway.
Cloyd grew up in Fremont and graduated from Fremont Senior High School in 1951. He Served in the U.S. Airforce and was a control tower operator stationed in Japan. Cloyed returned to Fremont and married Shirley Henrichson in 1956 in Sidney, Iowa.
He worked at Hormel in Fremont retiring in 1975 after 37 ½ years. He then worked at Coast to Coast in downtown Fremont for many years.
Cloyed was a member of Community of Christ Church in Fremont and the Fremont Coin Club. He was very proud of his service to his county and loved to fly his flag. He especially enjoyed his family and friends.
Cloyd is survived by his wife, Shirley of Fremont; son Ron Callaway (Kay Chrisman); daughter, Cindra Bernt (Raymond Patterson) all of Omaha; brother, Dennison (Marg) Callaway of Fremont; sister-0in-law, Evelyn Callaway of Louisiana; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents; brother, Douglas Callaway and a grandson, Tyler Anthony.
Celebration of life service will be 11 a.m., and gathering from 11:30a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Rev. Scott Jensen will officiate. Military honors will be conducted at Moser’s following the service.
