MITCHELL, S.D. – Midland University took a long bus ride up to Mitchell, South Dakota on Saturday to face Dakota Wesleyan University in a Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) matchup on a Saturday Evening. After a full 90 minutes of play, the Warriors and Tigers were held scoreless, each earning a point in the conference standings in the 0-0 draw. With the result, Midland moves to 8-4-4 overall and 5-2-3 in the GPAC.

Midland had a substantial lead in shot attempts on the evening, 19-10 overall, with a 12-4 advantage on the frame. Each team put forth a solid defensive strategy in front of their keepers as physical play from both sides resulted in 10 fouls and three yellows throughout.

Kyla Pires played the complete game, picking up four saves to earn the shutout in net.

“Tough result but still really proud of the girls for putting their full effort in till the very end,” commented interim head coach Tatum Tremain.

With one week left in the regular season, the Warriors are in fifth place (18 points) with two games left. They are tied with the College of Saint Mary, who has one game left, while Morningside is a point behind with two games on its schedule.

Midland (8-4-4, 5-2-3 GPAC) will take on Briar Cliff (4-4-5, 3-3-4 GPAC) in a conference clash next week. The midweek match is slated for a 3:30 p.m. start on Wednesday, October 25 in Sioux City, Iowa.
