Loren R. Hagerbaumer, 84, of Hooper died Thursday Oct. 19, 2023, at Nye Legacy in Fremont.
Loren was born on June 22, 1939, on the family farm to Harry and Helen (Hilgenkamp) Hagerbaumer. He received his baptism and confirmation at Immanuel Lutheran Church, located east of Winslow. Loren’s educational journey included attending Immanuel Lutheran school and Hooper High School, from which he graduated in 1957. After completing his formal education, Loren embarked on a lifelong journey in farming, paired with an affection for truck driving, which started immediately after school at Pawling Transfer. Alongside his agricultural pursuits, Loren dutifully served in the United States Army Reserves.
He remained a dedicated member of Immanuel Lutheran Church throughout his life and devoted over 30 years to the Winslow Volunteer Fire Department, including serving as its chief for decades.
Loren is survived by his wife, Susan (Hahlbeck), and his daughter, Cyndi (Jack) Biggs, residing in Phoenix, Arizona, and four grandchildren: Carson (20) Biggs of Phoenix, Arizona, and Brodie (15), Ellie (15), and Jobie (14) Hagerbaumer of Arvada, Colorado.
Loren’s parents, his son Ryan, his stepmother Vera Hagerbaumer, sister-in-laws Elenor Hahlbeck and Anita (Dick) Stout, and brother-in-law Warren Hahlbeck, along with several nieces and nephews, preceded him in death.
The memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 am on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, east of Winslow. Following the service, Loren will be laid to rest in the Immanuel Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit and pay their respects on Wednesday Oct. 25, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ludvigsen’s Hooper Funeral Chapel in Hooper. A memorial will be determined at a later date.
