Wesley “Wes” L. Schiermann, 80, of Fremont passed away Sunday, Aug. 20, 2023, in Blair. He was born on Sept. 14, 1942, in Lincoln to Jacob and Rose (Tesch) Schiermann.

Wes grew up in Lincoln, graduating from Lincoln Northeast High School in 1960. He attended two years of college. Wes was a firefighter and fire captain for the city of Lincoln for 27 years. He worked at the Cottner & Vine Station, was a dispatcher for the College View Station and then the Lincoln Airport Fire Department. He was in the Nebraska National guard for eight years. He moved to Fremont in 1996 and married Lynnda (Molina) on Jan. 16, 1997. He owned Wes’s Home Service until 2005.

He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Fremont and Lincoln Wards.

He is survived by wife, Lynnda Schiermann of Fremont; son, Kevin (Cole) Schiermann of Honolulu, Hawaii; daughter, Dwinell (Carlos) Mesa of Lake In The Hills, Illinois; step-sons, Troy (Aubry), Travis, Cortney, Spencer Barrett all of Fremont; step-daughter, Kendra (Ted) LaFavor of Ames; brothers, Ralph Schiermann of Fremont, Stanley (Phyllis) Schiermann of Waverly; sister, Barbara Rivers of Valparaiso; brother-in-law, Owen Hansen of Lincoln; and 17 grandchildren.

Wes was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Schiermann; sister, Carol Hansen and stepson, Zachary Barrett.

Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday Aug. 26, 2023, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 12th & Luther Road in Fremont. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
