Bergan Catholic School will have a new governance and leadership structure taking effect in July, 2023.
Bergan Catholic has historically been governed with the Pastor of Saint Patrick Catholic Parish also serving as the president of Archbishop Bergan Catholic School while being guided by an advisory board. As of July 1, Bergan will utilize a model in which the school is governed by a board of limited
jurisdiction and a lay administrator.
Transitioning from an advisory board to one of limited jurisdiction increases the responsibility of the new board of directors, but also strengthens the collaboration between Bergan Catholic and our stakeholders. These new structures will give the board of directors more financial responsibility and greater authority to provide guidance to school leadership. Within this reorganization, Bergan Catholic is working to establish a strong subcommittee structure that will only benefit the school moving forward.
Bergan Catholic will reorganize the administrative leadership structure of the school as well. The following list explains the changes.
· Rev. Walter Nolte moves from president to director of campus ministry.
· Dan Koenig moves from principal to president.
· Lori McIntyre moves from assistant principal to principal of Bergan Elementary.
· Chris Rainforth moves from assistant principal to principal of Bergan Middle/High School.
The new Bergan Board of Directors will fully participate in the policy-making process by formulating, adapting and enacting policy for the school. The board has been delegated final authority to enact policy in certain areas of institutional operation that have been delegated to the board by the bylaws,
approved by Saint Patrick Parish Church Authority, which is represented through the Archdiocese of Omaha.
The members of the new Bergan Board of Jurisdiction include:
· Ryan Bojanski, chair
· Todd Thomason, vice-chair
· Elizabeth Borisow, secretary
· Dr. Tom Wolf, treasurer
· Amanda Ostdiek
· Dave Shrader
· Terra Uhing
· Dan Koenig, president
· Rev. Walter Nolte, Pastor of Saint Patrick Parish
