A suspect was taken into custody on Monday after a pursuit.

On Monday around 4:30 p.m., the Saunders County Sheriff’s Office said they were notified that the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department was in pursuit of a silver jeep without license plates headed southbound on Hwy 77 from the Platte River bridge.

Officials said around 5:00 p.m. the Wahoo Police Department saw the suspect’s vehicle at a convenience store in Wahoo and followed it out of town to Hwy 109.

According to authorities, once northbound on Hwy 109, Saunders County and Wahoo PD initiated another pursuit. Saunders County officials tried spike strip deployment near Hwy 109 and County Road U but that attempt was unsuccessful due to the suspect taking the ditch and nearly hitting the deputy.

The pursuit continued to Cedar Bluffs. After getting to Hwy 79, the suspect continued west then southbound past Prague where two other attempts to deploy spikes were unsuccessful.

Officials said Saunders County Deputy successfully deployed spikes and the suspect lost control trying to avoid them.

Saunders County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect, 28-year-old, Itsamar Ramirez of Lincoln was taken into custody without further incident.

Officials said Prague Fire and Rescue were called to the scene and transported Ramirez to Saunders Medical Center to get checked out.

Authorities said after medical clearance, Ramirez was transported to Saunders County Corrections and charged with the following charges: speeding, failure to stay in lane, driving while revoked from DUI, possession of a controlled substance- Meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, willful reckless driving, flight to avoid arrest, possession of a stolen firearm, and open alcohol container.
