COLUMBUS, Ga. – The 2023 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Softball World Series will begin this week in Columbus, Georgia. Midland University will be one of ten teams vying for the national championship at the South Commons Softball Complex.

Midland, who won the Oklahoma City Opening Round last week, is the 10th seed in the World Series. They’ll face 7th-seeded Marian University in the first game on Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. (CT). The Warriors enter with a 39-13 record, earning its national tournament berth by winning GPAC Postseason Champion. The Knights have a 49-7 record this year, winning the Crossroads Conference regular-season and postseason titles. Last week, they went 4-1 in the Indianapolis Opening Round on their home field.

Other first-round matchups include 8th-seeded Central Methodist University (41-10) taking on 9th-seeded Baker University (47-10), 4th-seeded Southern Oregon University (46-12) against 5th-seeded Georgia Gwinnett College (43-10), and 3rd-seeded University of the Cumberlands (47-3-1) versus 6th-seeded University of Science & Arts (42-13). Top-seed Oregon Institute of Technology (50-8) and 2nd-seeded Our Lady of the Lake University (51-6) await the winners in the second round.
