Duane Milo Rath died on May 14, 2023.

He was born on July 9, 1937,, to Samuel and Edna Rath in Tuttle, North Dakota where he grew up and excelled in basketball and track. He attended college in Bismarck for a year and then traveled to Iowa where he attended Westmar College in LeMars where he finished his college education and met the love of his life, Roberta. He graduated from Westmar and was married to Roberta on June 1, 1959. He took his first professional job in De Lamere, North Dakota, where Dana was born. Shortly after her birth he was offered a job in Rembrandt, Iowa, where he taught social studies and was the boys and girls coach and a few years later Dee was born. During his time in Rembrandt he expanded his love of horses that he cared for and his family helped with chores and enjoyed welcoming a new colt every spring for several years. He participated in adult basketball and softball leagues where he was able to play with former student athletes which he so looked forward to and enjoyed.

In 1970 he left teaching and was hired as a factory representative for Wilson Sporting Goods which required him to travel the state of Iowa and parts of Nebraska. He eventually took a new position as a factory representative for Slagle Sports which required the family to move to Fremont in 1977.

His children attended school in Cedar Bluffs and he quickly became involved in coaching the American Legion softball team where he was able to coach his daughters. He became an avid spectator and supporter of the Cedar Bluffs Wildcats where Roberta taught sixth grade. His passion for sports and competition were definitely a driving force in his life as he loved horse racing and supported his Cornhusker and Hawkeye sports teams.

Duane is survived by his wife of 63 years, Roberta, daughter Dana Rebhuhn (husband Perry Rebhuhn, children Robert Rebhuhn, Rachel and Pat Kelly and their children Lennon and Dermot); daughter Dee Felici (husband Tony Felici, children Stefanie and Dan Toleikis and their son Teddy, Britnee and Vince Gutgsell, and their children Vinny and Mariella and Joey and Danielle Felici); his brother Keith Rath (wife Jan and their children Kamille and Mike Yost, Nikki and Jeff Pahl, Keith and Lindsey Rath and Amy Ziegler); sisters-in-law Dianne Ross, Mary Lou Ross and brother-in-law Bill Ross. He is also survived by countless cousins, nieces and nephews. His love for his wife, family and dear friends created countless memories of love, laughter and dancing.
