Crawford Earns All-GPAC; Four Others Named Honorable Mention

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Baseball All-Conference team has been announced after a vote of league coaches. Midland University had five players named to the team or named an honorable mention. The 2023 GPAC All-Conference Team consists of a first-team, second-team, and an honorable mention list along with a gold glove team.

Hadyn Crawford, a sophomore from Austin, Texas, was named to the All-GPAC Second Team as a third baseman. In his first season as a Warrior, he hit a team-best .369 at the plate with 14 doubles, 11 home runs, and 42 runs batted in. He had a slugging percentage of .702 and an on-base percentage of .435 which both also led the team.

Jonathan Foreman, a sophomore from Tucson, Arizona, was named an honorable mention as a starting pitcher. He made six starts on the mound this season going 2-3 with a pair of saves in 15 total appearances. He worked 47.0 innings with a team-best 44 strikeouts and an earned-run average of 6.13.

Yealex Lopez, a senior from Arecibo, Puerto Rico, earned honorable mention honors as an outfielder. In 131 official at-bats this year, he had 43 hits with 8 doubles and 2 homers. He drove in 22 runs, scored 25, and stole 13 bases to lead the team.

Connor Petersen, a junior from Tucson, Arizona, was named an honorable mention at first base this season. He had a .333 average at the plate with a team-best 56 hits including 13 doubles, a triple, and 4 home runs. He drove in 28 runs and scored 36 while playing all 50 games.

Alec Villanueva, a sophomore from Boerne, Texas, earned honorable mention honors as a shortstop. He hit .316 at the plate while playing in all 50 games. He had a pair of triples, 13 doubles, and 5 homers while driving in 38 runs and scoring 36 runs.

Joey Grabanski of Concordia University was selected as the GPAC Player of the Year while Aaron Forrest of Doane University was selected as the GPAC Pitcher of the Year.
