A Fremont woman was arraigned in Dodge County Court Tuesday for the September death of Yashua Martinez, 27, of La Vista.
Marisa Utterback is facing eight charges, including manslaughter, failure to stop and render aid and tampering with evidence.
Martinez had been missing for several days when construction workers discovered his body along U.S. Highway 275.
Court documents indicate that investigators found evidence that led them to Utterback’s 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee that had significant damage to its front end. Authorities believe Utterback was traveling about 85 miles per hour when she struck Martinez on the shoulder of the road.
The arrest complaint said Utterback left the scene of the accident. Two weeks later, she took the vehicle to a body shop for repairs, claiming she had hit a deer.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 23.
