The Saunders County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim in a fatal car crash last week near Prague.

Officials said Jackilyn J. Potter-Buckendahl died at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha following Wednesday’s crash that happened at about 8:45 p.m. on Highway 79.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a red 2007 Toyota Camry driven by Payton R. Pruett was traveling northbound on Highway 79 when it appeared to have lost control. It entered an east ditch, then overcorrected and crossed the centerline striking a southbound white 2001 Buick Regal.

The  Regal, driven by Rory H. Buckendahl, 26, of Prague ended up in the west ditch. Potter-Buckendahl was a front-seat passenger in the Regal while two children were rear passengers.

All five people were transported to Methodist Fremont Health with several later transferred to UNMC. Pruett sustained non-life threatening injuries, officials said. Rory Buckendahl has serious, but non-life threatening injuries. A 3-year-old has life-threatening injuries while a 6-year-old has non-life threatening injuries.
