HASTINGS, Neb. – Midland University stepped on the mat at the Hastings Open inside Lynn Farrell Arena on Sunday morning. The Warriors had six athletes compete in the open.

The top performer for the Warriors at 116 was Serenity Durham Goree won by pinfall over Ashlee Rice (1:09). Then she won by tech fall over Maria Correa (10-0) and by decision over Samantha Weeks (12-8). Goree wrestled for fifth place and won by tech fall over Jayla Oberst (12-2).

Samantha Segura-Veliz took sixth place as she won her first bout at 143 against Gwyneth Davis by tech fall (10-0) and the quarterfinals by pinfall over Attalia Cano (0:44). Ashlee Palimo`o won by fall over Avery Shinkle (2:43) and by fall over Marissa Burt (1:56). She won the seventh place bout by decision over Brisa Salas (6-0).

Kacey Lee Pua at 170 won by pinfall over Kylee Spearman (2:01) and by decision over Lila Bloomer (12-4).

Others competing at the open for Midland were Salem Scobee (1-4 at 109) and Avery Thomason (0-2 at 130).

The Warriors won’t have much time off as they will travel to the York Open on Saturday, January 14 inside the Holthus Field House.
