
A North Carolina woman was injured in an accident at about 8 Monday morning at the intersection of U.S. Highway 30 and Highway 79 in North Bend.
Betsy Peardon, 43, of Hope Mills, North Carolina, was northbound on Highway 79 in a white 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse and entered the intersection of Highway 30, where her vehicle was struck by a 2020 Kenworth semi traveling east on Highway 30.
The semi driver, Adam McClellan, 35, of Mead, was not injured. Peardon had to be extricated from her vehicle and was transported by North Bend Rescue to Methodist Fremont Health for treatment of her injuries.
Authorities said Peardon’s vehicle was totaled while the semi sustained approximately $5,000 worth of damage. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
As a result of the accident, the Corner Cafe, located on the northeast corner of the intersection, sustained about $15,000 in damage.
Peardon is in stable condition.
