Melvin G. Vance, 86, of Ames passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont. He was born Dec. 23, 1935 in Fremont to Roy and Anna (Rayvich) Vance.
Melvin worked as a manager of Hay Mills, Weiser Mill and Debruce Grain Company retiring in 1990. He served in the U.S. Navy in the 1950s. Melvin married Donna Emge Dec. 24, 1976 in Fremont.
He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Donna of Ames; sons, James, Marvin, Wesly and Charles; step-sons, Kelly and Marty; step-daughters, Pamela, Beth and Gaylynn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and step-son, Randy.
