No injuries were reported Wednesday afternoon when a brush fire broke out next to the back of a house on 2445 E. Military Ave.
Fremont Fire Chief Todd Bernt said the call came in at about 3:24 p.m.
“As we were going en route, we got additional radio reports that it was more like branches burning on the outside right next to the home. It was starting to take out the first window and was possibly going into the structure,” Bernt said.
Firefighters had the fire contained in about 10 minutes. They remained on the scene until about 4:30 p.m.
“We were just making sure that there were no more hot spots,” Bernt said. “We pulled some of the siding off on the outside of the home to make sure it didn’t get into the walls or anything like that.”
Bernt said there was smoke damage to the home. He estimated there is about $30,000 in property and content losses. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
