Recap for June 1st game against North Platte 7-3:

fremont-moo

Fremont, NE- The Moo take their third win of the season to move to 3-1 on the season and got the series win in the process against the North Platte Plainsmen 7-3. North Platte moves to 4-4 on the season now after a 3-game winning streak coming into the series was snapped last night.

The Moo got the first two runs of the game in the second inning when OF Zane Skansi hit an RBI double to score OF Derian Morphew from 1st and then Skansi would score on a wild pitch later in the inning when Kanin Dodge was batting to make it 2-0 for the Moo. The Plainsmen would answer back in the top of the fourth inning with a 3-run shot to right field by INF Oskar Stark to make it 3-2 in favor of North Platte.

The teams traded quick innings back and forth with no runs scored until the bottom of the 7th when the Moo scored 5 runs to take the lead and the eventual win. It started with Dodge reaching 1st on a fielding error then OF Hayden Lewis being hit on the head to make it runners on 1st and 2nd. North Platte would decide to intentionally walk INF/C Ian Graf which would prove to be the fatal mistake for them as the next batter Morphew who was 2-3 going into the at-bat would launch a missile over the left-field wall into the lumber yard across the street which would be the eventual game-winner.

The Moo got through the next 2 innings with no issue ending the game on a line drive to Skansi to end the game. C/RHP Trey Nichols would get the win for the Moo going 3 innings allowing 2 hits with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts with 6 strong innings to start the game from RHP Kai Taylor who made his debut for the Moo tonight. Brock Hendrix took the loss for the Plainsmen going 1/3 of an inning allowing 2 runs and no hits which were a part of the Morphew grand slam. Morphew would go 3-4 with 4 RBIs off his 4-bagger in the 7th along with 2 runs of his own.

The Moo take on the Plainsmen in the final game of this series tomorrow night at Historic Moller Field at 7:05 CST with the series sweep on the line for Fremont. Make sure to listen to the live broadcast on Big Dog Country Radio 98.9 FM 1340 AM as well as on fremontmoo.com.
