Quasar featured in documentary

The long-awaited, feature-length follow-up to April Wright’s “Going Attractions: The Definitive Story of the American Drive-in Movie” (2013) will hit select screens on June 6. This early, limited release is an extra special treat, reserved exclusively for outdoor theaters.
The feature-length film, “Going Attractions: Back to the Drive-In” chronicles a single night at each of eleven unique drive-in theaters across America. Shot over the course of the summer months of 2021, the film highlights the struggles and realities of Drive-In life and the families behind them.
Quasar owners, Jeff and Jenny Karls, their family and crew are featured, along with drive-in owners from California to Maine. One of only a handful of newly-built drive-ins, Quasar, located between Omaha and Fremont, opened just six weeks before filming took place.
Inclusion in this newest entry of the Going Attractions series was an especially ironic twist for the Karls family. Their quest to bring a drive-in theater back to the Omaha Metro area began in 2013. A quest that was spurred along by Wright’s original drive-in documentary, also released that year.
Quasar will host a special screening of the documentary on June 6. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. with showtime at dusk.
