Incumbents hold strong in primary

With all 32 precincts reporting, here are the results of Tuesday’s primary election for Dodge County.
Pam Hopkins finished with 2,909 votes for Dodge County Attorney with fellow Republican Anthony M. Hernandez III finishing with 1,134.
Dodge County Board of Supervisors Chairman Bob Missel, a Republican, finished with 403 votes in his District 5 race while challenger Robert A. Mulliken had 134.
Another GOP incumbent, Lon Strand in District 3, finished with 514 votes while Joe Wolfgram netted 273.
In the Fremont City Council Ward 3, incumbent Mark Jensen finished with 310 votes while Emily Sutej was second (141), followed by Wayne Schwarze (102). Jensen and Sutej advance to the general election.
In the District 1 Republican congressional race, Mike Flood finished with 3,428. Disgraced former U.S. Rep. Jeff Fortenberry remained on the ballot, despite resigning earlier this spring, and finished with 685. John Glen Weaver was third with 276.
Patty Pansing Brooks easily outdistanced Jazari Kual Zakaria 1,262-138 in the Democratic race.
University of Nebraska regent Jim Pillen won the GOP gubernatorial election and also carried Dodge County. He finished with 1,580 votes in the county while Brett Lindstrom was second with 1,507. Businessman Charles Herbster finished with 1,351.
For the Democrats, Carol Blood advanced to the general election. She topped the county with 1,185 votes followed by Roy A. Harris with 186.
