Sharla Rae Andera, 70, of Fremont passed away at the Prestige Care Center in Nebraska City.
Sharla was born on June 19, 1951, to Marlin and Sherri (Eairlywine) Young in Omaha. She attended Burke High School in Omaha. At the age of 14 and 15, Sharla was fortunate to have survived two cerebral hemorrhages. Sharla then moved to Fremont, graduating from Fremont High School. After high school she worked for her father’s business at Marlin Young Excavating. Sharla decided to go to college and become an LPN. She worked for the VA Hospital in Omaha for 20 years. Sharla later earned her bachelor’s degree from Midland College. After retiring as an LPN, Sharla worked for M&H gas station and Touch N’ Go for many years after. Sharla was a strong-willed woman, and was able to beat breast cancer. Toward the end of Sharla’s life, she lived in nursing care facilities in Fremont and then Nebraska City.
Sharla loved playing piano in her younger years and was an amazing artist. She enjoyed her soap operas and her favorite beverage, Pepsi. Sharla loved to attend sporting events to watch her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Shawn Rae Ellerman.
She is survived by her daughter, Tami Andera; son, Rob Andera; sister, Kim Brown; grandchildren, Madison, Tyra, Chelsi, Payden, Zehyra, Kristina, Etha, and Dalton; great-grandchildren, Freyja, Braham, and Stearly; close friend and roommate, Jackie Tanner; and her nursing caretakers, Cassie Royal, Megan Cornelison, Charnique Bratt, Cheri Wells, Mindy Chance, Brittney Nelson.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2022, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Pastor Allison Siburg will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Moser’s. Nebraska Nurse’s Honor Guard will conduct honors during the funeral service. Burial will take place at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
