FFD issues smoke alarm, carbon monoxide detector reminder

The Fremont Fire Department would like to remind residents, when you change your clock forward March 13, change and test the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.
According to the National Fire Protection Association, three out of five fire injuries take place in homes without working smoke alarms. About 71% of smoke alarm operating failures are due to missing, disconnected or dead batteries.
Senior Citizens and disabled individuals can contact the Fremont Fire Department at 402-727-2688 to arrange free detector checks and battery replacement assistance. A working detector cuts the chance of fire fatality nearly in half.
