Grand jury proceedings conclude in Schneider case

On Tuesday, Dodge County District Court Judge Geoffrey C. Hall called a grand jury to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of Aaron J. Schneider.
Schneider, 33, died as a result of an officer-involved shooting on May 14 in Fremont.
Under the supervision of Hall, the grand jury convened Tuesday and special prosecutor Paul Vaughan began presenting evidence regarding the death. The grand jury completed its deliberations during the afternoon and concluded that there had been no criminal conduct on the part of any individual as to the death of Schneider.
The grand jury returned what is called a “No True Bill” and issued a grand jury report containing their findings and recommendations. The report has been filed with the clerk of district court.
Hall has signed an order discharging the grand jury and releasing its members from further service.
