FPS updates numbers on COVID-19

Fremont Public Schools released information Thursday on the district’s COVID-19 numbers.

There were 27 students not in school today due to a positive COVID-19 test. There were 78 students not in school due to quarantine for exposure while 155 students were absent due to any illness.

There were four employees not working due to a positive COVID-19 test while three were not working due to quarantine for exposure. There were 40 certified teaching staff not at work for any reason.

“We’ve seen our numbers increase slightly this week,” FPS Superintendent Mark Shepard told Walnut Media. “I think the important message is that it is a virus. We’re going to have individuals that contract it. One thing that is a little bit different this week is that we have an epilink exposure.”

Fremont Middle School Team 7C has three students that have tested positive for COVID-19.

“With the epilink we do kick in a little different protocol,” Shepard said. “So for the rest of this week and next week, Team 7C will have some different protocols.”

Team 7C students will be required to have temperatures monitored and they will be required to wear masks while in school.
