MU Women’s Golf Competes In GPAC

The fall rounds of the 2021-22 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women’s Golf Championships are complete from The Bluffs in Vermillion, South Dakota. The final 36 holes will be played in the spring at the Norfolk Country Club in Norfolk, Nebraska.

Morningside, the four-time defending GPAC champion, is the clubhouse leader after 36 holes with a 612 (+36). The Mustangs shot a 304 in the opening round. Dakota Wesleyan moved up two spots into second with at 90 over after two rounds. Briar Cliff is in third, while Jamestown and Dordt round out the top five respectively.

Individually, Sofia Castelan leads the field with a 36-hole total of 150 (+6). Fellow Mustang Maria Zorrilla is second at 151 (+7) while Megan Hinker of Dakota Wesleyan is third with a 152 (+8). Hinker had the top individual round of day two with a 73. Laia Badosa of Morningside is third while Kendra Placke of Concordia is fifth.

Midland is in 12th with a 911.  The Warriors’ Erin Baum is 42nd with a 184.

The final 36 holes will be played in the spring at the Norfolk Country Club in Norfolk, Nebraska. The schedule will be announced at a later date.

The GPAC Women’s Golf Champion receives an automatic berth in the NAIA Women’s National Golf Championship in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the Rose Creek Golf Course. The GPAC medalist (if not on the qualifying team) also qualifies for the NAIA Championships.
