Midland University faced Bellevue University on Wednesday night, reigniting competition between the two sides for the first time in five seasons. The Warriors were victorious in the matchup winning 1-0. The win brings the Warriors back to even on the season at 4-4, as well as even in the all-time series with the Bruins, 3-3-1.
After attempting a corner kick, a Bellevue clearance brought the ball right back to the feet of Claudia Wilson, Wilson then crossed the ball back into the box and set up Kisa Omerovic for a header that she sent wide of the keeper and into the left corner of the netting. The goal came with just 21 seconds remaining in the first half.
The Warriors can now fully turn their attention to conference play with Bellevue being the Warriors’ last non-conference opponent of the season. The Warriors will shift their focus back to GPAC matches now as they wrapped up their non-conference slate. They’ll begin with a road trip to Dordt (5-3-1, 0-2-1 GPAC) on Saturday, September 25. First kick is set for 1:00 p.m. at the Dordt Soccer Complex in Sioux Center, Iowa.
